What a tumble down the rabbit hole this story was!!!! This is by no means, a book for the feint hearted, its about as twisted and dark as they come and more than a little batshit crazy but i think this is one of the things i loved about it the most, Tillie’s way she pushes her readers to the limit and leaves you with many jaw dropping moments.

Heathen and Ellis were two children from different backgrounds both living a life shut up in a house of horrors surrounded by monsters of the worst kind. From an early age, Heathen “Rabbit” James has lived a life of darkness whereas Ellis “Dolly” Earnshaw’s life is full of colour spurred on by her love of dancing, tea parties and all things Alice in Wonderland. They are drawn to each other and an unlikely friendship is formed until they are ripped apart.

Eleven years later and Rabbit has come back for his Dolly but what he finds is a broken shell, Ellis is lost, trapped in the room of doors waiting to be set free and free her they will. It’s time for revenge, time to find those responsible pay in the worst possible way.

Tillie has not held back in anyway. This book is graphic, it will chill you to the very core and leave you sick to your stomach in places but you won’t be able to put it down compelled to find out the end to this utterly unique story. Move over Harley Quinn and the Joker, there are a new pair of crazies in town.

Rabbit turned off the country road we were on and pulled onto a dirt path. Bushy tree branches curled above us to create a tunnel. I leaned my head back and caught the last rays of sun slicing through the leaves. When I lifted my head I saw a building up ahead. A house made from wood stood before us.
Rabbit pulled the car to a halt. There were no sounds coming from this house. No screams or crying. Everything was just . . . silent.
Rabbit’s hands slid from the wheel, and without looking at me, he said, “This is where we’ll be staying for the next several days.”
I leaned forward and looked out of the window. “Your home?”
He shook his head. “The first stop on our adventure.” I looked at him and found his silver eyes were already on me. “We have many stops to go.”
My heart fluttered in nervous excitement. “And this is number one . . .” I whispered, more to myself than Rabbit.
Rabbit opened his door. I was still staring at the woods surrounding this place when my car door opened too. Rabbit stood, rabbit-headed cane in hand, waiting for me to leave the car. I swallowed back the nerves that were creeping up my throat and stepped out. The ground crunched beneath my shoes.
“This way.” Rabbit held his arm out toward the house. I fell into step beside him. I glanced all around us, searching for any sign of people. As if reading my mind, Rabbit said, “There is just you and I here for now. We will meet more people when our journey truly begins.”
“It has not begun?”
Rabbit led us to a wooden door and paused. Gripping the head of his cane tighter, he faced me and said, “Soon, darlin’. Before we go, we must prepare.” He opened the door. “But first . . . tea.”
My breath caught in my throat. Beyond the threshold lay the most perfect tea-party spread one ever did see. “Rabbit!” I gasped. My hands flew to my mouth. I took a step forward into the house and onward into the magical room just beyond. As I passed Rabbit I looked up to see him watching me. I moved swiftly to the long table in the center of the wooden-paneled room, and my eyes widened as I beheld the spread. A white tablecloth lay over the table. Tall seats were positioned around it—eight to be exact—and at each seat was set a plate, a teacup and a saucer. I ran my hand over the cloth and smiled at the silver-domed dishes in the center of the table. I looked behind me to find Rabbit, but he was nowhere in sight. Turning back to the table, I lifted the first silver dome to peek at what was underneath. My mouth watered when I saw strawberry tarts. Smiling in excitement, I skipped to the next. Victoria sponge. Desperate to see them all, I removed each cover—cucumber sandwiches, Bakewell tarts, Battenberg cake, carrot cake . . . so much cake! All of England’s finest delicacies.
My favorites.
A floorboard creaked behind me, and I turned to see Rabbit walking back into the room. I opened my mouth to ask him where everything came from, but then I spotted what he held in his hands.
“Tea?” I asked as Rabbit placed the silver tray, which held a teapot, a jug of milk and a bowl of sugar, on the table. I walked closer and closed my eyes as I inhaled deeply. “Earl Grey,” I whispered, smelling my absolute favorite tea in the entire world.
“Only ever Earl Grey for my little Dolly,” Rabbit confirmed and pulled out a chair for me. I sat down, and Rabbit tucked me in. He took the seat a few places down and gestured to the food. “Help yourself. After all, this tea party is in your honor.”
A giddy laugh escaped my throat as I reached forward and carefully selected a variety of cakes and sandwiches. When I had filled my plate, I took the teapot and poured myself a cup. Rabbit watched me with a peculiar look on his face. His lip was hooked at the corner, and his eyes were . . . soft. His eyes were never soft, always hard and focused, but as he looked at me now, they were almost gentle.
I swallowed, unsure what this strange feeling in my stomach was. I pressed my free hand to my stomach as a comfort against the strange tingling sensations inside. “Tea?” I offered, my voice barely above a whisper.
Rabbit nodded; not a word escaped his mouth. His gaze became more intense as I moved beside him and poured the steaming liquid into his cup. As my arm neared him, I felt him stiffen in his seat. Only a sliver of air prevented our limbs touching. His breathing grew labored as he watched me pour.
But we didn’t touch.
Clearing my throat, I placed the teapot back on the tray and moved to take my seat once again. Just as I took a step, an image floated into my head. Of me and Rabbit. Lips touching. My entire body tensed.
I heard Rabbit’s ragged breathing behind me. Goosebumps broke out along my body, chasing one another up my arms and up to the back of my neck. Shaking my head clear of the image, I sat back down.
I raised my eyes and found Rabbit watching me intensely. I lifted my teacup toward my lips. Rabbit did the same, but just as the lip of the teacup almost reached his mouth, I shouted, “Rabbit!” He froze. “Your little finger!” I scolded. I lowered my cup and shook my head. “You cannot drink tea without raising your little finger, silly!”
Rabbit exhaled, then bowed his head. “You’re right, darlin’. How could I forget?”

The start to a sexy new series from New York Times bestselling author, Kendall Ryan…

She’s much too innocent for me, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting the sweet, young librarian. I’m dominating and possessive, and my control streak runs a mile wide.

The way she looks at me—like I’m one of the heroes in the books she loves, like I’m broken, and she wants to be the one to piece me back together—it only complicates things further. I’m nobody’s hero.

But there’s no denying my tragic past reads like one of her favorite literary classics. It’s raw. Visceral. Captivating. And together, we’re a perfect mess.

How am I expected to resist when the sexual sparks zap between us and set me on fire? The need to control, and claim her force my walls to come tumbling down, but when she learns my dirty little secret, will my world come crashing down with it?

I have three months to write the last book of my life. Three months to confess the details of that day, and how it changed everything for me.

My name is Helena Ross. I’ve written fifteen romance novels, ten of which have become international bestsellers. But this one isn’t a romance. This novel holds only the truth, which I have run away from for four years. The truth, which I have hidden from the police, from my loved ones, from the world.

This finalbook?

How to review this book is the hard bit. I’ll be honest in saying that to begin with I really struggled with it – I didn’t find Helena likeable but now I’ve finished, I think that is how you are supposed to feel about her initially. I very nearly stopped reading this but OH MY GOD, I am so glad that I didn’t and now I can honestly say that this is one of my favourite books of 2017 without a shadow of a doubt.

This book was not what i expected – you get to see and feel Helena’s inner most thoughts and also see her through the eyes of a few select secondary characters. Each chapter starts with a look into her past, helping us to build a better picture of the person she is and whilst she starts off as this cold, emotionally devoid person, we learn that she is so much more and about the pain and guilt she has carried with her for so long. Raw, emotional, gut wrenching in places – Alessandra takes us on a journey of discovery, of soul searching and most of all forgiveness.

This is a stunning novel, you feel yourself slipping slowly into the story, immersing yourself in the quality of Alessandra’s words. I am a huge fan of her books and this has actually surpassed all my expectations and more. I could go on and on talking about this but what i can say is that i urge you, no i beg you to buy this book and to dive right in. It will leave you emotionally drained but its thought provoking content will stay with you long after you turn that last page.

After Taking Chances and how fantastic Laura’s debut book was, I just knew that Defying Gravity was going to follow in its footsteps and my assumption was correct.

Being asked to beta read this for Laura, I couldn’t wait to get started and I literally devoured it. I made the mistake of starting it at 11pm thinking I’d read just a couple of chapters and by 2.30am I had to force myself to put it down and get some sleep! A testament to a fantastic book in my eyes.

Savannah has pined for her brothers best friend Josh for as long as she can remember but he has never shown any interest in her. Watching whilst he parades girl after girl in front of her, she finally realises that she needs to move on with her life but things don’t go exactly the way she plans.

Josh is the ultimate sexy cowboy and the perfect book boyfriend. He will literally have you swooning with the way he treats Savannah, the lengths he goes to for her and do ensure she is happy and you will find yourself willing them together for the entire book and hoping that they get their HEA.

Well done Laura, another fantastic 5 star must read book

I’m in absolute awe of Laura and I can’t believe this is only her secret be book!

I have been dying for Josh and Savannahs story for ages! Ever since we met them in Libby and Masons story, Taking Chances. I knew there was a brilliant story there, I just didn’t realise how good it would be.

As soon as we start reading, it’s clear this isn’t going to be your straight forward love story.
Savannahs life is about to be turned upside down, things with her and Josh look bleaker than they’ve ever been. They’ve moved way beyond Josh being Savannahs brother Brodys best friend!

One thing I know for certain is, once I got reading this book, I couldn’t put it down! I read it in one sitting! It’s a beautiful story and I love these characters. 💖

I believe Brodys book is next and I’m already so ready for it.

I love new book series’ to love and trust me, you won’t regret reading these

Right from the first page, I was literally glued to this book. MC is probably my favourite genre and to find out two of my favourite authors were writing an MC series was really exciting.

Avery is not your typical MC princess. The daughter of an MC Prez, you expect her to be a certain way, behave a certain way but Avery is nothing like this, she is strong, feisty and not afraid to stand up for herself. Rebelling against her father and what he wants and expects from her finds her at a remote gas station on that fateful night, one that will change her life forever.

Slade/Frost is certainly all alpha. The son of the Lilith’s Army MC Prez he is no stranger to club life. Whilst he is somewhat crazy, demanding and borderline scary at times, there is also a softer side to him, one he would never show to his brothers. When his out of control and slightly insane younger brother brings trouble to the club in the form of Avery, he does what is necessary to protect his Prez and also the club.

You can feel the sexual tension between Avery and Slade right from the start and you know that when the get together it is going to be nothing short of explosive. The love hate/ relationship they start with turns into so much more and the intensity of what is between them radiates off the pages.

What a complete whirlwind of a book this was. It was action packed, dark, gritty, raw and everything I expect from an MC book. There were twists, there were turns and heart pounding intensity between Avery and Slade and i absolutely loved it. For me, the sign of a great book is when i can’t put a book down and i find myself finishing it at 3.30am having been so engrossed I lost all track of time. This was certainly one of those occasions! If you love MC books then you are going to love this one for sure and i can’t wait to read what is to come next

Meet Author Ker Dukey

I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bedtime stories with my sisters. I wanted to be an actress growing up so I could live many roles but I learned early on that my mind was too active… I would want to change the script.I would watch films and think of ways they could have improved the story if they took another direction so I thought it best that I tell my own.

My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made of light, some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling.

When I’m not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.

Excerpt:

Sawyer

My throat tightened and a heaviness grew in my chest like my heart didn’t know whether to beat faster or stop beating altogether. “Did you leave me all this to show me the life you could’ve had, but didn’t? Why!?” I pounded the wheel again and then again, and again and again until my vision was blurry and all I could see was the redness of my own heated rage. “You’re a fucking coward! You fucking COWARD!” I screamed to no one, pounding on the wheel until the skin across my knuckles split and blood dripped between my fingers.

Strong hands bit into my biceps, yanking me from the cab. I was spun around by my shoulders and found myself face to face with Finn. “I like it when you swear,” he said, pressing close.

“Finn, get off me! Get off me! Let me go!” I wailed, struggling to free myself from his grip. Kicking out my legs only to connect with the air as he evaded my every move.

A growl tore from his throat. Finn picked me up and walked me to the back of the truck, setting me on the open tailgate. He pushed himself between my legs and hovered over me to keep me from leaping off.

“Let me go,” I demanded, pushing at his hard chest. “I don’t have time for your broodiness right now.”

Finn held my wrists together with one hand. “No, of course you don’t. You’re too busy tearing up pictures and screaming at no one.”

“Let me go,” I repeated.

“No,” he said between clenched teeth.

“Just go! Leave me alone. Leave meeeeeee!” I wailed as I pounded against his stone chest.

“You don’t want to hit me,” he warned, his eyes hardened.

“Then let me go.”

“Why?” He stepped in closer, unaffected by my attempt to fight against him. My inner thighs were touching his outer thighs.

“Because she did!” I screamed, my eyes sprang open to find his cold blue gaze. “She could have run anywhere and taken me with her. Instead she left him but she left me too. She was a coward who couldn’t make the right decision and I love her. I love her…but I hate her. I hate her so much…so…” I was interrupted when Finn’s lips pressed against mine, momentarily rendering me stupid. I pointed my toes toward the sky to avoid my initial instinct which was to wrap my legs around him. It was so consuming that I momentarily forgot to fight him off, but I didn’t need to, he pulled his lips from mine.

“Stop doing that,” I said. I pushed him off but he stayed between my legs, his hands on my bare back just under the hem of his big t-shirt I was wearing. His gaze hardened. I could see the conflict written in his lined forehead and the deep V between his eyes. I had no doubt the conflict had everything to do with me.

And kissing me.

“It’s your fault that I do it,” Finn said, his voice deep and smooth against my chin and then my neck.

“So that’s your plan? Kiss me every time you want to shut me up?” I asked, still feeling every bit of my anger but also feeling something else. Something that sent tingles between my legs and an ache in my core. “Thank you for saving me. Really. Thank you. I appreciate it,” my voice cracked. “But you can just leave me alone now. And please, STOP kissing me.” My words a whisper.

“I’m going to kiss you whenever I want to kiss you,” Finn stated as if I didn’t have a say in the matter.

The early morning sunlight highlighted the beads of sweat trickling from his shoulders down his broad chest and across the valleys of his defined abs. He was standing so close that we were breathing in each other’s air.

“Whenever you want to kiss me?” I laughed. “I don’t understand you. I don’t understand any of this. You’re always mad at me. Why did you save me? Why do you keep kissing me when you’re always mad at me?”

“It’s when I’m pissed off at you that I want to kiss you the most,” Finn said, his voice flowing over my skin like a silky blanket. He slid me closer so I could feel the outline of his rigid erection as if he were proving a point. He lowered his lips to mine and consumed my mouth in a greedy kiss that had me shaking with need and spinning with confusion.

“Do you always kiss everyone you hate?” I asked, yanking my lips from his.

“Does this feel like hate to you?” he growled pushing his hard length between my legs.

Her story telling ability is in my opinion one of the best, i lived and breathed every word until i reached the end of yet another fantastic book.

Sawyer Dixon has lead a sheltered life and grown up in what can only be described as her own personal hell, living with the devil himself, her father. After the death of her mother and a little push from beyond the grave, she makes the decision to leave behind everything she has ever known and start living her life. When she arrives in a small town called Outskirts in the Florida Swamp looking for answers, one of the first people she sets eyes on is Finn Hollis.

Finn has his own painful past. Having lived a good life, loving parents, plenty of friends, he was once the town’s golden boy. When his life took a downward spiral 2 years before, he retreated to the swamp and now lives a reclusive life with a bottle of Jack Daniels for company. When Sawyer arrives, the last thing he wants is a neighbour and he does nothing to hide his dislike towards her. The feeling is mutual and Sawyer’s dislike for her obnoxious neighbour is evident too.

Despite this, you can’t help but see the attraction building between them. They are drawn together and become closer and closer as time moves on and Sawyer integrates herself into the small community. They seem to find strength in each other, Finn finally facing his demons and Sawyer accepting that she can live her life, her way.

I loved the secondary characters in this story – Josh and Miller were hilarious and i loved the push and pull between the two of them. The Outskirts is part of a duet so we are left with a TM Frazier style cliffhanger and i am now waiting with baited breath for the next and final instalment. This is a story that will draw you in, its emotional and its raw but it is also a thing of beauty and i can’t wait to see what TM has in store for Finn & Sawyer next.
