Rescuing Emily (Delta Force Heroes Book 2) by Susan Stoker
Date of Publication: July 19, 2016
Renting out the apartment over his garage shouldn’t be a life-changing decision, but when Delta soldier Cormac “Fletch” Fletcher meets Emily Grant, he feels an instant connection. He can’t stand the thought of Emily and her young daughter living anywhere unsafe. Offering cheap rent is a small price to pay for their safetyÖand Fletch’s peace of mind.
Being a single mother is difficult at best, but renting the extremely affordable space from Fletch makes Emily’s life a lot easierÖuntil it doesn’t. Suddenly all the money she’s saving thanks to Fletch’s generosity is going into the hands of a blackmailer. And what little food Emily can afford goes to her daughter Annie, so the girl doesn’t go to bed hungryÖleaving Emily weaker and weaker.
When miscommunication has Emily assuming Fletch is in on the blackmail, he not only has to gain her trust, but also deal with a man holding a grudge against Fletch and his entire Delta Force team. A task made more difficult when the dangerous man gets his hands on Emily and Annie…
** Rescuing Emily is the 2nd book in the Delta Force Heroes Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.
Fletch is part of Delta Forces which is group of the best of the best. He is part of a training exercise and he wipes the floor with the opposing squad who is participating. His teammates would do absolutely anything for each other and that really does come across in this book. He is looking for a tenant to live in his garage apartment and occasionally look after his house when he isn’t there. In his search for a tenant he meets Emily and her daughter Annie.
Emily is desperate to find a place so she can get away from where she is and make sure her daughter is safe. She is initially wary of Fletch because she is making sure that she is in a safe place and that she won’t get hurt. I love how she puts her daughter ahead of everything else but not at the expense of her own health but she’s a mother first and foremost.
Emily gets dragged into a nightmare situation and Fletch is none the wiser. The guy who instigates it all is really messed up in the head. I wanted to bang Emily and Fletch’s head together. Annie is one of the sweetest kids ever and she dotes on Fletch. She instantly bonds with him and it makes me smile to see that happen. Fletch loves her and loves spending time with her. It melted my heart and made me root for their happy ever after.
There is quite a bit of drama in this book too and it threatens their happy ever after but I love the way it played out. This book quite frankly is the best of Susan’s that I’ve read to date!
