From New York Times bestselling author Kelly Elliott comes the gut-wrenching story of a love that transcends all odds—and transforms the deepest pain into the brightest hope.
Firefighter and first responder Preston Ward thought he had grown immune to the job’s emotional burns. But when he goes out on a particularly tragic call, he realizes that some scenes are too devastating to forget. And yet, if it weren’t for that terrible night, he never would have met the woman who makes him want to risk his heart.
More than once, Harmony Banks has watched her perfectly ordered world torn apart by fate. Now she’s finding out that what she lost wasn’t as perfect as she thought—and it’s tearing her apart. The only thing that keeps her going is the kindness of a stranger: the firefighter who saved her life the night everything changed.
Preston isn’t like the men who have come before. For one thing, he’s far more genuine. And the love Harmony feels growing between them is almost too intense for her wounded soul. But if she and Preston can push past heartbreak, they’ll find that something incredible awaits in each other’s arms.
Advance praise for Searching for Harmony
“Searching for Harmony is a heartwarming story of a woman who suffers an unthinkable tragedy—and finds an unimaginable love. It’s a real charmer!”—USA Today bestselling author Tina Wainscott
I’ve read a few books by Kelly now and i have really become a fan of her writing. I know that i’m going to get a sweet, low angst romance and this book was a journey of love, devastation and learning that its okay to accept love and live again.
Harmony and Trey married straight out of high school after she found out she was pregnant. Disowned by her parents and with the support of Trey’s family, they have done their best to make a life for themselves but things are not easy and the strain of marrying so young and for convenience is beginning to show.
The story got off to a pretty heart wrenching start when tragedy strikes and Harmony’s life is turned upside-down when her husband and baby son TJ are taken in a horrific car accident. My heart was in my throat already at this early stage of the book, tears in my eyes the emotion during this part of the book was high and i could feel Harmony’s utter devastation and heart break
Preston is a firefighter and one of the first responders on the scene, battling to save the life of little TJ but to no avail. Left devastated, he is unable to get the little boy and the way Harmony looked at him that night out of his mind and finds himself drawn to the hospital and here starts a friendship between them.
Taking one day at a time is the only way that Harmony is able to deal with the emotional turmoil that her life has become. Preston becomes someone she sees more and and more and she is surprised at how at ease she feels with him the more time they spend together, he makes her feel safe and secure. Preston can’t explain the draw and intensity of feelings he has for Harmony but it is like he has been waiting his whole life for her. Their relationship blossoms but Harmony begins to doubt whether she can put her damaged heart through any further trauma by giving it to a man who is risking his life everyday and may not come home.
This book was really easy to read and had i not needed to sleep, i would have read it in one sitting. Kelly has given us an emotional and poignant story which you will find hard to put down and one that i would certainly recommend.
