There are two men in my life. I’m marrying one, want to screw the brains out of another, and by the time this story is over you may want to kill someone.

The choices are still pending…

A NO CHEATING standalone you need to read sitting down.

Harlow is a normal young woman who is living with her single mother. They’ve never had a lot of money but the one thing that they have always had is just simply each other. Naturally one day when Harlow’s world is completely destroyed by a man who was bitter and jealous, everything just changes in the blink of an eye. She goes from living with her mother, to then waking up in a hospital bed where she meets the mysterious surgeon called James.

Now let’s jump about 4 months, Harlow is living with James, but she is nothing like the woman that she used to be. James is a controlling and manipulative man. He’s dictating every element of her life but Harlow is unable or unwilling to see that control he has over her. James has some really questionable demands of Harlow which she agrees to so that James will let her see her friend. I understand why this had to be included in the book but honestly my heart hurt for Harlow. She’s been in this fog where she just doesn’t know what is going on.

Enter Sinclair, or Sin as he’s aptly named who is James’s nephew, he’s come for a visit in order to further his medical aspirations. He meets Harlow at the airport and then enjoys a meal with her. He has been told by his grandmother to size up Harlow and make sure she isn’t a gold digger. Sinclair is taken with Harlow from the moment he meets her, and Harlow is taken with him. She’s slightly scared of the feelings Sin invokes in her. Sin despite his name, is actually a genuinely lovely person who has made some bad decisions, he doesn’t deny that. He can tell after a few conversations with Harlow, that James is controlling her and he hates it. He wants to be the one to free her from the prison that she’s caged into. There is one scene in the kitchen that he sees and it broke my heart. I just wanted to hug him and honestly that one scene spurred his protective instincts into overdrive. It fuelled the determination to help Harlow and to show her that she doesn’t need to settle what she thinks James can give her.

James. What can I say about him? He’s a creep, and my creep radar went off the moment he entered the story. He wants to control Harlow; he has this image in this head of his that he can just keep her prisoner to tend to his every need. I really wanted to do some physical damage to him. He’s a predator and fixates on people. He truly believes that he has the right to make a woman feel like she’s got no other option than to stay with him. He thinks that she wants to be with him in his mind but in actual fact she really doesn’t.

I can’t spoil how this ends up. Will Sin save her and be the salvation that she needs? Will James win and keep her prisoner? Will Harlow break free and get away from James? Will she end up with Sinclair? I won’t say but I will say that I think this book is just amazing, and that the ending is one that satisfied me. I have no complaints with this book, it’ll be in my top April reads!

5 stars!!
