There’s one must-have toy this Christmas, and Neala Clarke has told her niece Charli she’ll get it for her. Never mind that she’s got less than a week and it looks like everywhere is sold out. She’s promised Charli a Fire Princess doll—and Neala is a woman of her word.

Darcy Hart is a people-pleaser. So when his adorable six-year-old nephew, Dustin, asks for a particular doll at the last minute, he says yes. Luckily for Darcy, there’s one left in stock at the local toy store. Unluckily for Darcy, he’s not the only person who wants it—and his rival is the one woman who’s immune to his charms.

Neala and Darcy have loved to hate each other since they were kids, and they’re both willing to do whatever it takes to get that doll. This can’t possibly end well for both of them…can it?

Darcy and Neala used to be best friends, and I stress that they used to be best friends! Darcy and Neala also have a common goal which is to get a doll for Darcy’s nephew Dustin and Neala is getting it for Charli, her niece. There has always been this animosity & one-upmanship with these two.

These two are hilarious at the best of times but there are also times where Darcy really annoyed me, he was deliberately being cruel and locking Neala in a storage room was really harsh in my personal opinion.

Their respective mothers and families decide to devise a plan to get them to sort themselves out and stop making every family gathering into a battleground. I laughed my head off at some of their antics.

The snow, the party and the whisky were some of my absolute favourite laugh out loud moments. Though deep down I think Darcy was winding her up all those years to hide how he truly felt and when he reveals something to Neala, I finally understood why he was the way he was, I forgave him after that.

Neal was still reluctant to fully open up but the latter part of this book shows a change in both characters. There are still laughter and smiles, but there is also this connection that shows despite all the fights and petty arguments, there was and still is a love shining underneath it all.

I love this book, best friends to enemies and then to lovers.. sounds like a recipe for a fun read!

I narrowed my eyes to slits because he was merely feet away from me.

Darcy Hart.

My betrayer.

“Excuse me, are you blind? I’m standing right here, and I was talking to this fella before you were,” I sneered.

Darcy leaned to the left and looked around the lad to see who was speaking to him, and when his eyes landed on mine they instantly narrowed.

“Neala Clarke.”

He always spat out my name like it left a bad taste in his mouth.

I smirked at him. “The one and only.”
