The night I saw the darkness that truly lived inside of him, I couldn’t look away.
We were broken together, yet somehow whole. We were wrong together, but always right. We were the stars that burned across the night sky, searching for a wish, praying for better tomorrows.
Until the day I lost him. He threw us away with one hasty decision–a decision that changed us forever.
There once was a boy, and I loved him.
And for a few breaths, a few whispers, a few moments, I think he loved me, too.
The Fire Between High and Lo by Brittainy C Cherry
Logan and Alyssa have been best friends for so long. Logan’s dad is non existent and his mother is out of it all the time, so his living arrangements are less than ideal. Kellan, his brother lives quite a while away so he hasn’t been around as much. Logan has had to do some questionable things just to make sure the rent is paid and that he has some semblance of food in the house.
Alyssa has a mother who constantly belittles her, makes her feel like she means nothing and doesn’t see the emotional turmoil she is placing on her own daughter. In the process of reading this book, I felt a whole wide range of emotions that made me feel like I was angry, sad, emotional, laughing and just basically totally all over the place.
“Logan was home to me.”
Alyssa has never denied the depth of her feelings for Logan, he’s hers. He has always been hers regardless of the ups and downs that occur in this book. Brittainy has a talent for drawing out the raw emotions in a reader and keeping them so invested in the book.
Logan gets himself into a really bad place and finds himself leaving town to try and find himself again but time flies and he gets dragged back into town again where his Alyssa awaits.
“You’re it for me Logan. Yesterday, today, tomorrow – I’m yours. You’re my eternal flame.”
Ah Logan and Alyssa, your story has taken me on a journey, I loved feeling every emotion, every tear just feeling everything. Highly recommend this book!
