Love was my weakness.
In the light of the truth, no one can hide. Derek had ignited a spark inside of my heart, a hope for a love I never expected to find. However, our connection lacked the substance it needed to burn. Weakened with resentment, our relationship crumbled under deception, slowly dissolving into ash.
I had sacrificed myself for him and paid the price.
By the time Brandon entered into my life, the longing in my heart had turned cold. But fate was not done with me. His crystal blue eyes and fluid touch revived a wish that had been frozen in time. He gave me hope once again.
Hope is a dangerous thing, especially when you dare to dream.

Upon the first read of the first few chapters, I didn’t gel with this book so I put it down and wrote it off as a DNF but then I kept seeing people raving about it so I decided to give it another chance.
Penelope hasn’t had a positive role model growing up, her mother wasn’t the best example for her but she didn’t allow that to stop her. She spent a long time just wallowing and not getting herself out there to be happy. She finds an inner strength to do something more with her life rather than just being the same old Penelope.
We get to see Derek and Penelope in flashbacks and we can see that at first they were happy but then things changed. Derek changed and as a result of his change, Penelope was also affected. Penelope also finds out that her man has been cheating on her. My heart broke for her because cheating just devalues you as a person, it makes you fell like you never counted because their attention and time was with another person. It is horrible and it was honestly one of those moments where my heart wanted to cry and I was hurting alongside Penelope.
I think the cheating was the last straw for Penelope and she decided enough was enough. Her inner strength came from the hurt and betrayal she experienced. This story is about Penelope more than anything else, it is about her finding out that she’s worth more than what other people think of her. She is worthy of love and for someone to love her unconditionally.
She learnt to take her own journey, this book is about her saying to herself. ‘I am worth so much more, I am more than enough!’
